de VRIES LITIGATION LLP is pleased to announce its support of the 25th Annual Sopinka United Way Legal Luncheon as a supporting sponsor. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel.
Established by John F. Evans, the luncheon honours the late Justice John Sopinka. Justice Sopinka was raised in Hamilton and served on the Supreme Court of Canada from 1988 until his death in 1997. The event is hosted by United Way Golden Horseshoe, which was formed in April 2026 when the United Way organizations serving Halton and Hamilton, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk, and Niagara merged.
This year’s program will feature a keynote address by The Right Honourable Richard Wagner, Chief Justice of Canada. Over the past 25 years, the luncheon has raised more than $3.8 million for United Way. Funds raised remain in the communities where they are contributed and support programs addressing poverty, housing, mental health, and food insecurity.
The 25th anniversary is a noteworthy milestone for an event that has brought members of the legal profession together in support of their communities for a quarter century. The firm is honoured to contribute to this tradition and to the work of United Way Golden Horseshoe.
